Who is an Actor?

Actors are professionals who use creative thinking to interpret scripts, research characters and roles, and perform to entertain, inform or instruct audiences. Actors are also called Heroes and Heroines. Actors' work requires collaboration with other actors, directors, playwrights, and crew members. Actors must follow the instructions given by the director of a piece. Actors must be able to portray emotions through body movements, gestures, and speech. Actors work across various media, including theatre, television, radio, and film. Some actors also do voiceovers for animated projects, act on television commercials, and record audiobooks. Acting is an influential profession; by pretending to be somebody else, actors can trick people into believing that the character is playing is real. Actors influence emotions, trends, and critical discussion.

  • Actors' prime duty is to express a character through different behavioral expressions, movements, and activities.
  • Actors use their bodies, voice, and language to play a character.
  • Actors create a reaction in an audience.
  • Most actors have to work with other actors under the guidance of a director, who coordinates the scene and explains the part of all the actors in a scene.
  • Actors have to memorize and practice their lines before shooting for the scene.
  • Additionally, actors must learn skills like dancing, acting for stunts, singing, etc., and what is required for the role.

  An actor's salary depends on the type of show, the role, etc. At an entry-level, an actor can earn Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 400,000 depending on the role,and an experienced actor can earn Rs. 50,000 to Rs.1,00,000 per episode.A film actor in India can earn good pay, and it depends from actor to actor, depending on the kind of role the candidate gets. The payment keeps on increasing with experience and popularity.

Admission into the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Acting course is based on the candidates’ performance in the university-specific examination (if specified).However, it may vary from college to college; check the particular college rules and regulations before applying.

To become an ACTOR, a candidate should hold a graduation degree in BA in Acting/ Bachelor in Acting (Hons.)/ BA (Hons) in Acting for Stage and Screen/ BA (Hons) in Acting and Performance/ BA (Hons) Theatre, Television and Performance/ BFA in Acting and Theatre/ Diploma Course in Film Acting and Modelling/ Certificate Course in Acting, etc.

  • The first and foremost step is to seek exposure through workshops, theatre, school plays, and street plays.
  • Candidates must keep themselves open to prospects in all entertainment media, whether through TV shows, theatre plays, or others.
