The pay scale of a Government School Teacher depends on the post of a teacher. For PRT, the current pay band is Rs. 9300 to Rs. 34800 with gross pay of Rs. 4200. For TGT is Rs. 9,300 to Rs. 34,800 (Basic) plus Rs. 4,600 Grade pay, and for PGT is Rs. 9300 to 34800 with Grade Pay 4800.

Pursue Bachelors’s in Education (B.Ed.) Degree from a Recognized University   
  • Admission into the Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) degree dependson the candidates' performance in the university-specific examination (if specified).However, it may vary from college to college; check the particular college rules and regulations before applying.
  • The candidate must be a graduate of any stream from a recognized college.
Register and Qualify for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)OR Teacher Eligibility Test (TET)   
  • National and state governments conduct various entrance exams for teaching as a profession.
  • To become a GOVERNMENT TEACHER, the candidate has to register and qualify for CTET/TET Exam.
  • Central Governments conduct the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) for CBSE twice in one year. In addition, the state government conducts the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). 
  • The CTET or TET consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates need to qualify for Paper 1 to teach classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for classes 6 to 8. Therefore, if a candidate wants to teach from classes 1 to 8, the candidate has to qualify for both papers.
  • After qualified CTET or TET, candidates can apply for job openings in various government schools.
  • After qualified CTET or TET, candidates are eligible for PRT(Primary School Teacher) and TGT(Trained Graduate Teacher) posts in schools.

  • For PGT(Post Graduate Teacher) Post, the candidate must pursue a post-graduation degree in the concerned subject from a recognized university. Admission into the post-graduation degreedependson the candidates' performance in the university-specific examination (if specified).However, it may vary from college to college; check the particular college rules and regulations before applying.
  • For PGT Post, there is no need to qualify CTET/TET exam. However, the candidate should have graduated with B.Ed and Post-Graduation degree.
