Hardware Engineer

Who is a Hardware Engineer?

A hardware engineer is a professional who works with hardware in various stages, from design to maintenance. The hardware engineer must know how to work with circuits, components, and integrated circuits.Hardware engineers may design, develop or test computer systems such as servers, rack setups, physical data partitions, or any other type of hardware serving an IT architecture.Hardware engineers develop the physical equipment a computer system requires, including computer peripherals, electronic devices, and network systems. Hardware engineers oversee a computer system's entire lifecycle from concept to installation and maintenance. Hardware engineers are usually part of a designated hardware team within a company. Hardware engineers often collaborate with IT professionals and software engineers to accomplish their work. Hardware engineers may also report to senior hardware engineers or project managers.

Job Responsibilities of a Hardware Engineer

  • A Hardware Engineer's primary goal is to design computer hardware and determine machine requirements.
  • Hardware engineers build and modify computer systems and hardware components.
  • Hardware Engineer Job Responsibilities include analyzing computer hardware parts and equipment information.
  • Hardware Engineer works with other engineering staff and coordinates with them to provide hardware solutions to their clients.
  • Hardware Engineer develops computer hardware parts and computer peripherals. These include Central Processing Units (CPU), mouse, keyboards, disk drivers, printers, etc.
  • Hardware Engineer is responsible for developing quality products within the client's budget.
  • Hardware engineers must assemble hardware parts from different companies to build a new system.

Career Scope of a Hardware Engineer

Many Hardwareengineers start their careers in entry-level roles, such as testing, upgrading, and modifying computer components.  As the candidate gains experience, the candidate moves into different job functions. Finally, the candidate progressively moves up the ladder and becomes an experienced professional Hardware Engineer. After gaining experience as a professional hardware engineer, candidates can progress into engineering specialty roles or management and leadership positions like senior hardware engineer, hardware engineering project manager, or director of hardware engineering.

 Salary/Income of a Hardware Engineer

An entry-level HardwareEngineer with less than a year of experience can expect to earn approximately Rs. 4,00,000 annually. HardwareEngineers with 1 to 4 years of experience can expect to make roughly Rs. 7,00,000 annually.

Enroll for Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science Engineering or many more programs
  • A candidate should hold a graduation degree Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science / Bachelor of Technology in IT/ B.Sc.  in Computer Science/ BCA / or enroll in a Diploma in Computer Science.
  • After graduating and acquiring knowledge of Languages like C, C++, Java, etc., an android Application Developer can work on projects to enhance candidate skills. Candidates can also build small candidate applications to increase their knowledge base before joining some big App Development enterprises.

Go for the Internship (Hardware Engineer)
  • During the course, grab as many opportunities for internships or project works as a candidate can. These help the candidate gain insights into the kinds of tasks that can expect to perform in the future.
  • The internship duration would be four weeks, eight weeks, or ten weeks, depending on the choice of the candidate.
