Who is a Judge?

judge is a person who presides over court proceedings, either alone or as a part of a panel of judges. A judge hears all the witnesses and any other evidence presented by the case's barristers or solicitors, assesses the parties' credibility and arguments, and then issues a ruling  based on their interpretation of the law and their judgment. A judge is expected to conduct the trial impartially and, typically, in an open court.

Register and Qualify CLAT UG Entrance Exam   
  • Admission into the LLB course is based on the candidates' performance in the CLAT UG examination. CLAT UG examination is conducted annually for candidates who want to get into the LLB course.

Enroll in a 5 Years LLB Program / Graduation Degree + 3 Years LLB Program for Judge   
  • To become a JUDGE and crack the Provincial Civil Service-Judicial Exam (PCS-J), a candidate should hold a graduation degree in law from a college recognized by the Bar Council of India
  • The candidate must have an undergraduate law degree which can be either five years which they can start right after the 12th, or three year LLB after graduation. This will help the candidate to get knowledge of the law and other functionalities of the law.
Apply and Qualify PCS-J - Preliminary Exam   

Judiciary Service Exam, also known as PCS-J, is the door to enter the highly respected Indian judiciary and is conducted state-wise for deploying judges in states. The examination allows law graduates to be members of the subordinate judiciary. It is individually arranged by 24 states of India to Hire the officials.

  • The minimum age criteria to appear for the PCS-J exam is at least 21 years.
  • The maximum age limit where a candidate can become a JUDGE for the general category is 30 years, and a Maximum of four attempts are allowed up to 30 years of age.
  • The maximum age limit for the OBC category is 33 years, and a maximum of seven attempts are allowed up to 33 years.
  • Also, the SC/ST category is 35 years, with no maximum number of allowed attempts.
  • The Judicial Service Exam is conducted under 3 phases.

Phase 1: Prelims Exam

The first stage of the Judicial Services Exam is the preliminary exam, consisting of multiple-choice questions. The marks scored in the preliminary examination are not considered while preparing the final merit list. Also, the minimum qualifying marks will vary for each state.

Qualify PCS-J - Main Exam   

Phase 2: Mains Exam

The second stage of the Judicial Services Exam is a subjective type of examination. It consists of three to four papers. The marks scored in the main examination are considered while preparing the final merit list. The minimum qualifying marks vary for each state. Students equal to three times the number of vacancies are called for interviews.
