Register and Qualify Combined Defense Services Exam (CDSE- Navy Officer)   
  • To become a NAVY OFFICER, the candidate must register for the Combined Defense Services Exam (CDSE). The combined Defense Services Exam (CDSE) is conducted twice yearly by the Union Public Service Commission in March and October.
  • The candidate should be between 19 to 24 years of age on the first day of the month in which the course starts. 
  • If the candidate is in a final year or semester, the candidate can apply.
  • The candidate should be only an unmarried Indian citizen (male and female).

Qualify SSB Interview and Medical Test (CDSE- Navy Officer)   
  • After Qualifying for the CDSE written exam, a candidate should go for the SSB Interview, which starts with a screening test. The Selection Board recommends candidates who clear the SSB Interview. They are then selected for detailed Physical and Medical examinations. The merit list will feature candidates who clear the medical examination part.
  • The merit list is based on the marks scored by candidates in CDSE written, SSB Interviews, and Medical examinations. The final selection of candidates for training will be based on this merit list and the vacancy for the Navy Officer.

Go for the Training (CDSE- Navy Officer)   
  • After final selection, candidates will undergo two years of training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, or the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
  • After the training, successful candidates will be inducted into the Indian Navy as Sub- Lieutenants (Commissioned Officer posts).

  • To become a NAVY OFFICER, the candidate has to qualify JEE exam.

Register for Technical Entry Scheme(TES) Examination for Navy Officer   
  • The candidate should be between 16½ to 19 years of age on the first day of the month the course starts. 
  • The candidate should be only an unmarried Indian citizen (male and female).
  • Indian Army provides opportunities to candidates aspiring to become an Engineering Core of Navy officer twice a year through the Indian Army Technical Entry Scheme (TES).
  • Interested candidates can apply for May-June in the January session. The second session is held from October to November. Students can apply for the second session in July.

Go for the Training (TES-Navy Officer)   
  • After final selection, selected candidates will go for five years of training at three technical institutions, i.e., College of Military Engineering (CME), Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), and Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME) for Training. 
  • The first year is conducted at the Officer Training Academy (OTA), Gaya (Bihar). The Training at OTA is also called Basic Military Training. After completing Basic Military Training, candidates are given four years of training in two phases, three years in Phase 1 and the remaining one year in Phase 2.
  • Phase-1 Training: Phase-1 training is also known as Pre-Commission Training. This training carries out for three years. Phase-1 Training is conducted at CME, Pune (Maharashtra) or MCTE, Mho (Madhya Pradesh), or MCEME, Secunderabad (Telangana).
  • Phase-2 Training: Phase-2 Training is also known as Post-Commission Training. This training carries out for one year. Phase-2 training is conducted at MCTE, Mho (Madhya Pradesh) or MCEME, Secunderabad (Telangana).
  • There are eight semesters of two phases, and candidates must qualify. After the successful completion of training, candidates are awarded the engineering degree.
  • After the training, successful candidates will be inducted into the Indian Navy as Sub-Lieutenants (Commissioned Officer posts).

  • To become a NAVY OFFICER, the candidate has to register and modify the Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET). Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) is conducted twice yearly by the Indian Navy in March and October.
  • The candidate should be between 19 to 24 years of age on the first day of the month in which the course starts. 
  • If the candidate is in a final year or semester, the candidate can apply.

Go for the Training (INET-Navy Officer)   
  • After final selection, selected candidates will be recruited as officers in several branches of the Indian Navy. Officers of all departments except IT officers will undergo 22 Weeks Naval Orientation Course. In contrast, SSC (IT) officers will undergo the 04 Weeks Naval Orientation Course at the Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
  • After finishing the training, successful candidates will be inducted into the Indian Navy Executive, Educational and Technical field.

  • To become a NAVY OFFICER, the candidate has to register and modify National Defense Academy (NDA) examination. National Defense Academy (NDA) examination is conducted twice yearly by the Union Public Service Commission in March and October.

  • Indian Army provides an opportunity to the candidates aspiring to become an Engineering Core of Navy officer through the 10+2 B Tech Cadet Entry Scheme once a year in the Education and Executive & Technical Branch.

  • After applying and qualifying for the Cadet Entry Scheme, Candidate should go for the SSB Interview, which starts with a screening test.SSB interviews will be conducted in two stages. Stage I Screening test consists of an Intelligence test, Picture Perception, and Group Discussion. Stage II test comprises Psychological testing, Personal Interview, and Group testing, which will last for 04 days. The Selection Board recommends candidates who clear the SSB Interview. They are then selected for detailed Physical and Medical examinations. Candidates who clear the medical examination part will get a chance to feature in the merit list.
  • The merit list is based on the marks scored by candidates in the 12th standard, JEE Score, SSB Interview, and Medical examination. Based on SSB marks, a separate Merit List for Education Branch and the Executive and Technical Branches (combined) will be prepared. The final selection of candidates for training will be made on the basis of this merit list and the vacancy for the Navy Officer in the respective branch.

Go for the Training (Cadet Entry Scheme)   
  • Candidates recommended by the SSBs and declared medically fit will be selected for training in Indian Naval Academy Ezhimala, Kerala, based on All India Merit and several vacancies. All India Merit will be prepared as per SSB marks.
  • After Final selection, Selected Candidates will be inducted as Cadets for the four-year B.Tech Course in Applied Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electronics & Communication Engineering as per Naval requirements. On completion of the course, B. Tech Degree will be awarded by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Distribution of cadets amongst Executive, Education, Engineering, Electrical & Electrical Branch (Technical Branch) will be as per the extant policy.
