Sailor

Who is a Sailor?

A sailor works on passenger ships, freighters, and tanker ships, navigating sea-going vessels and assisting with the maintenance, operation, and service. The term sailor was derived from sails that once powered all water-borne vessels. A sailor is a person who works aboard a watercraft as part of its crew and may work in one of several fields related to the operation and maintenance of a ship. The profession of the Sailor is old, and the term sailor has its etymological roots in a time when sailing ships were the primary mode of transport at sea.
