Who is a Singer?

     A Singer is a person who sings with their voice. Anyone who is singing is a singer. Some people do it as a job (professional singer), and others may sing without being paid (amateur singer). Singers may sing anything: songs, opera, etc. An instrument or an orchestra may accompany them. A singer vocalizes musical sounds with tone and pitch and uses own voice to produce Music. Singers may sing solo or in a group and are often accompanied by instrumental Music. The physical act of singing occurs as air passes through the larynx, throat, and mouth, and it's interesting to note that vocal resonation in singing involves seven areas of the human body: chest, tracheal tree, larynx, pharynx, oral cavity, nasal cavity, and the sinuses.

 Job Responsibilities of a Singer

  • The prime duty of a Singer is singing the lines of the Music, which is purely based on one's education in Music or one's pure natural talent. 
  • A singer performs live in front of an audience to entertain.
  • Singers memorize the various musical notes and selections and sing several musical notations.
  • Singers interpret or modify Music by applying knowledge of harmony, melody, rhythm, and voice production to individualize presentations and arouse the audience's interest.

  • Admission into the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music course is based on the candidates' performance in the university-specific examination (if specified).However, it may vary from college to college; check the particular college rules and regulations before applying.

  • To become a SINGER, a candidate should hold a graduation degree in BA in Music/ BA (Hons) (Instrumental Music)/ Bachelor of Performing Arts (Music)/ Bachelor of MusicorDiploma in Music.
  • A candidate should have talent, but talent alone cannot guarantee success. In addition, candidates must have the self-discipline to rehearse and practice to improve their performances.
  • The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Music or Music Vocal is a 3-year undergraduate music program with vocal, instrumental, and dance training. 
Go for an Exposure (Singer)   
  • The first and foremost step is to seek exposure through workshops, theatre, Music events, etc.
